Heiko Hartfiel got connected to glass-fibre reinforced plastics from his early
childhood when he laminated boats in his father's company. He graduated from
the Berlin Institute of Technology, Department of Power and Process Engineering in 2002 with a
thesis on the design of rotor blades for multi-megawatt wind turbines evaluating
different kinds of spar cap designs. Thereafter, he joined EUROS GmbH and focused
on materials, manufacturing methods and technology transfer. He successfully
implemented rotor blade manufacturing technology at partner companies in Korea
and China. He is also a founder of WINDnovation and the head of process technology
and manufacturing implementation.
